Do not leave your business open to discrimination claims from current EU workers

Whilst as a company you have a duty to ensure all employees have a right to work in the UK, you may not discriminate against EU, EEA or Swiss citizens.


As a result you cannot require current EU, EEA or Swiss citizens to show you their status under the EU Settlement Scheme until after 30 June 2021.


EU, EEA or Swiss citizens and their family members who were living in the UK by 31 December 2020 have until the 30 June 2021 to apply for the EU settlement scheme to remain and continue working in the UK.
